The Goraya police have arrested two key members of the notorious Sonu Khatri gang, marking a major breakthrough in a series of theft and looting cases across the region. Police recovered a stolen tractor and a car from the accused, who were allegedly involved in multiple criminal incidents, including firing at a village lambardar in Mandali, who narrowly escaped unharmed.

During a press briefing, DSP Phillaur Sarwan Singh Ball stated that the gang’s activities came to light after a farmer from Dusanjh Kalan village reported the theft of his tractor. CCTV footage from the area captured the gang in action, leading investigators to link them with several other recent crimes.

The suspects—Harman Singh of Nasirabad, Kapurthala, and Mansimranjit Singh, alias Sima, also from Nasirabad—were tracked down and arrested following swift police action.

Investigations revealed that the duo had also stolen a car, attacked a liquor shop employee, looted cash and liquor, and attempted to rob a jeweller’s shop in Dusanjh Kalan. Police believe the two men were part of a larger network led by Sonu Khatri, operating across multiple districts.

Authorities have intensified efforts to trace other gang members and recover more stolen property.
