HAMMOND, La. (LEX 18) — A shooting early Monday morning in the parking lot of The Soap Opera laundromat in Hammond resulted in one fatality, multiple injuries, and the arrest of two individuals.
The Hammond Police Department responded to the scene around 2:48 a.m. on Monday, where they found three victims: 23-year-old Bradley Blunt of Hammond, 22-year-old Raleign Honor of Tickfaw, and a 2-year-old juvenile. The victims were transported by Acadian Ambulance to North Oaks Medical Center for treatment.
Unfortunately, Blunt succumbed to his injuries, while Honor and the juvenile were reported to have non-life-threatening wounds by Monday afternoon.
The suspected shooter, 23-year-old Janvourian Franklin of Hammond, was apprehended after arriving at North Oaks Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Franklin was arrested upon his discharge from the hospital and charged with first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Following the investigation, Franklin’s sister, 20-year-old Demetriane Anderson, was arrested. Anderson has been charged with principal to first-degree murder and three counts of principal to attempted first-degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing, and both individuals remain in custody. Further details will be released as the case develops.
