The Sadashivanagar police have arrested a 19-year-old domestic help, Hajira Begum, and her 23-year-old husband, Shabbir Hussain, for allegedly stealing valuables worth Rs1.37 crore from the residence of a businessman in Bengaluru where Hajira was employed.
Both Hajira and Shabbir are natives of Assam. Police said the couple executed the theft by exploiting Hajira’s access to the house. Investigations are ongoing to determine if they were involved in other similar incidents.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the accused are in custody pending further legal action.
