A 26-year-old man in Gurugram, who was looking forward to a New Year’s celebration, was allegedly assaulted and robbed after falling victim to a scam that promised a dance partner, police said on Thursday.
According to authorities, the victim used an online service platform, Just Dial, to arrange for a dance partner. However, when he reached the agreed location, he was ambushed by three men who physically assaulted him and looted his mobile phone and cash.
Police arrested two suspects, Vishal and Bhavishya, both residents of Rajasthan, while the third accused, Karan, is currently absconding.
Officials have advised the public to exercise caution while using online service platforms and to verify credentials before meeting unknown individuals arranged through such apps or websites.
