Gurgaon: A woman was arrested in connection with the accidental death of her husband, a retired Navy officer, police confirmed. The incident occurred on Sunday at their residence in Nakhrola village.
The deceased, Sunil (45), had returned home intoxicated and reportedly lost his balance while heading to the bathroom. His wife, Mamta (43), who was cutting vegetables at the time, tried to help him. In the process, the knife allegedly pierced his chest, causing fatal injuries.
Sunil was rushed to a Gurgaon hospital but was declared dead on arrival. A post-mortem on Monday confirmed that the death resulted from a sharp weapon injury. Following a complaint by Sunil’s uncle, police registered an FIR for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Mamta was produced in court Thursday and remanded to one-day police custody.
The case is under investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accidental stabbing.
