In a significant breakthrough, the Industrial Area police in Ratlam arrested Gurdeep alias Lucky, a notorious criminal involved in a series of house break-ins and vehicle thefts across the city. The arrest took place during a routine vehicle check at the Banjali Bypass on Wednesday night. Gurdeep was found in possession of a two-wheeler that had been stolen earlier from Sakhwal Nagar.

Upon investigation, police discovered that Gurdeep had been involved in at least seven thefts, including vehicle thefts and burglaries. On the night of his arrest, he had also committed thefts in Shubham Srishti Colony and Central Plaza, Kasturba Nagar, stealing gold and silver ornaments. Gurdeep had previously stolen a two-wheeler from MB Nagar and silver jewellery from a locked house in Pukhraj Colony on April 29.

The criminal’s long history of theft dates back to October 26, 2024, when he stole silver jewellery and cash from a house in Siddharth Nagar. Additionally, he was responsible for stealing a bike in 2023.

During his interrogation, Gurdeep confessed to breaking locks and stealing valuables from homes and vehicles in various parts of Ratlam. A detailed search of the scooter he was riding led to the recovery of tools used for breaking into homes and several stolen items including gold chains, mangalsutras, rings, earrings, and pearls. Based on his information, the police were able to recover two scooters, one bike, and Rs3,500 in cash. The total value of the stolen goods amounted to approximately Rs8 lakh.

A case has been registered under section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Gurdeep, who will be produced in court on Friday. Theft cases have also been registered against him at the Station Road Police Station and GRP Police Station in Ratlam.
