In a significant breakthrough, Salem District Crime Branch (DCB) Police arrested two individuals on Friday evening in connection with a fraudulent job scam. The accused, G. Chandrasekar (49) from Chinna Kollapatti and P. Thangaiyaraj (49) from Hasthampatti, were arrested for allegedly promising a government job to Govindaraj’s son, Arun Kumar, and then failing to deliver on their promise.
Govindaraj, a 61-year-old resident of Omalur, had reportedly met the accused duo at a physiotherapy clinic run by Chandrasekar. The accused promised to secure a government job for Arun Kumar and in return, took Rs14.65 lakh in installments throughout 2021. Despite receiving the money, the accused did not fulfill their promise and refused to return the money.
Upon Govindaraj’s complaint, the police conducted an investigation, leading to the arrest of both Chandrasekar and Thangaiyaraj. The case highlights the growing number of fraudulent job scams where individuals exploit others’ trust for personal gain.
The Salem DCB Police are continuing their investigation into the matter to uncover if the accused are involved in other similar scams. The arrested duo will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
