In a major operation on Sunday evening, the Gossaigaon Police successfully apprehended two notorious drug peddlers, Hasan Ali and Samsul, who are believed to be the masterminds behind a widespread drug network operating in the region.
The operation commenced around 7 PM in Habrubil, where Samsul, a well-known figure in the local drug trade, was arrested. Following this, based on crucial information obtained during Samsul’s interrogation, the police raided Babubil village, where they apprehended another key player, Hasan Ali.
During the operation, the authorities seized a considerable quantity of narcotics. They also confiscated two vehicles allegedly used in the illegal drug trade: a Honda scooter (registration number AS-16-K-4861) and a CB Jet motorcycle (registration number AS-16-D-0890).
Residents of the area have long raised concerns over Samsul and Hasan Ali’s involvement in luring young people into drug addiction, which has led to widespread devastation in the local community. Samsul was reportedly in constant contact with numerous drug users, receiving hundreds of phone calls inquiring about “the stuff” during the evening hours, highlighting the extent of the trade.
The police have filed a case against the two men and presented them before the court for further legal action.
