Naharlagun Police have cracked a major job fraud racket, arresting Gollo Laxmi, wife of Gollo Joseph and resident of Helipad, Naharlagun, following complaints from duped job seekers.
The accused allegedly posed as an NGO worker to lure unemployed youths with false promises of jobs, charging fees ranging from Rs4,000 to Rs10,000 for positions such as nurses, data entry operators, and security guards. Investigations revealed that she defrauded 66 students, amassing a total of Rs3,36,000.
Based on the evidence, Naharlagun Police registered a case under Section 318(4) BNS (Case No. 113/25) and produced the accused in court.
Superintendent of Police, Dr. Nyelam Nega, advised job aspirants to verify the authenticity of offers and rely only on recognized and credible sources to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
