In a significant breakthrough, the Kerala police have arrested Drishyan Connolly (33), the leader of a gang that has been involved in extorting large sums of money by promising fake jobs in countries like Canada and New Zealand. The arrest was made by the Palakkad South Police following a complaint filed by a resident of Alathur, who reported being defrauded of Rs. 3.5 lakh.
Drishyan is believed to be a key figure in a large network that operated across multiple districts including Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha. The gang allegedly deceived more than 100 individuals, extorting amounts ranging from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh from each victim. The group ran a fraudulent company under various names, falsely offering job opportunities abroad to unsuspecting individuals.
According to police reports, the victims were lured by the promise of high-paying jobs in countries such as Canada and New Zealand, only to find that the offers were part of an elaborate scam. The police have confirmed that Drishyan was the mastermind behind this operation, and he used various methods to defraud the victims, including fraudulent documents and fake promises of job placements.
The authorities are continuing their investigation to locate other members of the gang, who remain at large. Drishyan’s arrest marks a significant step in dismantling the fraudulent network, and police are urging other potential victims to come forward.
