Four ZESA Employees Arrested for $28K Material Theft

Karoi depot staff face charges over missing electrical cables

by Sophia Bennett

Four Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) employees based at the Karoi depot were arrested in connection with the alleged theft of electrical materials valued at more than US$28,000, authorities said.

The suspects have been identified as Christen Mutabvure, chief security officer; Emma Kamba, former customer care clerk; Beloved Mudiwa, stores clerk; and Blessing Guramatunhu, lead artisan.

Investigations reportedly began after several incidents between November and December 2025, in which electrical cables ordered from ZESA’s central stores in Harare and Chinhoyi never reached the Karoi depot. Police allege that in multiple instances, materials were offloaded en route and failed to arrive at the intended location.

The case is recorded under RRB 6366625 at Karoi Central Police Station, with police confirming that investigations are ongoing.
