In a significant breakthrough, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of Kumar Gaurav, a deputy general manager (DGM) at NTPC’s Keredari coal mines project, in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district. Gaurav, 42, was shot dead on March 8 by two gunmen riding a motorcycle near Fatah More in the Katkamdag police station area.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Mintu Kumar Paswan alias Chota Chatri, Rahul Munda alias Chotka, Manoj Mali, and Ajay Yadav. According to Hazaribag Range DIG Sanjeev Kumar, the motive behind the murder was to instill fear within the coal mining region and facilitate extortion activities.

Mintu Kumar Paswan has been identified as the primary shooter, while Ajay Yadav is alleged to have supplied the firearms used in the crime. Police have successfully recovered the weapons involved in the murder.

The arrests are a crucial development in solving the murder case and are expected to shed light on the larger extortion racket operating in the region.
