Four men were arrested for aggravated trespass after entering the grounds of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s constituency home in Kirby Sigston, North Yorkshire. The protest, linked to the Youth Demand campaign group, took place while Sunak was in London attending events for the Japanese state visit.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers responded within a minute of the individuals entering the property at around 12:40 PM. The arrested men, aged 52 (London), 43 (Bolton), 21 (Manchester), and 20 (Chichester), remain in custody as investigations continue.
Youth Demand describes itself as a group of young activists demanding that both the Conservative and Labour parties commit to a two-way arms embargo on Israel and halt all new oil and gas licenses. A spokesperson for the group stated that three of the arrested individuals were protesters, while the fourth was an independent photographer.
This incident follows a similar protest last summer, where activists scaled the roof of Sunak’s home, draped it in fabric, and displayed banners reading “NO NEW OIL.” Four individuals—Amy Rugg-Easey, 33, Alexandra Wilson, 32, Michael Grant, 64, and Mathieu Soete, 38—have pleaded not guilty to criminal damage, with their trial set for July.
Authorities continue to investigate the latest breach as political protests targeting the prime minister’s residence persist.
