Four men have been arrested for allegedly stealing 11 kilograms of silver from a trader in New Usmanpur, northeast Delhi, according to police officials.
The accused reportedly received a tip-off that the victim was carrying silver. They collided their scooter with the victim’s vehicle, started an argument, and one of them snatched the silver before fleeing. Police were alerted to the incident on October 11.
During the investigation, authorities apprehended four suspects and recovered 10 kilograms of the stolen silver from their possession. Two scooters used in the theft were also seized, a senior police officer said.
“The accused have been identified as Nilesh (55), Pankaj Mishra (40), Pankaj Kumar Chara (44), and Vishal Garange (43),” the officer said. “Nilesh has seven previous cases related to theft and the Gangster Act in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Mishra has seven cases of snatching, theft, and forgery. Chara faces seven cases of theft and Gangster Act violations, while Garange has five cases under theft and the Gangster Act in UP.”
Police stated that further investigations are ongoing to recover the remaining silver and identify any other accomplices involved in the crime.
