The Chennai Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the brutal murder of Arun Kumar (25) and Padappai Suresh (25) in Kotturpuram, Tamil Nadu. The victims were hacked to death by a gang reportedly led by Sukku Kaapi Suresh, on Sunday night.
Arun Kumar and his brother had a long-standing feud with Sukku Kaapi Suresh, who was allegedly involved in recruiting minors for drug peddling. The rivalry intensified after the murder of Arun’s lover, Shahinshah, a widow and mother of two, in Kelambakkam in 2022. Arun suspected Sukku Kaapi Suresh’s involvement in her death and vowed revenge.
Fearing retaliation, Sukku Kaapi Suresh planned the attack. On Sunday night, Arun and his friend Padappai Suresh, who had become close during their time in prison, got heavily intoxicated and passed out. Seizing the opportunity, Suresh and his gang ambushed them, using machetes and sickles to hack them to death before fleeing the scene.
Following the double murder, the Greater Chennai Police launched a manhunt. Three special teams were deployed, which led to the arrest of four individuals on Tuesday. The suspects are currently under interrogation.
This murder comes just days after another shocking attack in Kancheepuram, where Vasoolraja, a history sheeter, was killed on March 11. Assailants hurled a country-made bomb at him, resulting in his immediate death. Investigations revealed that Vasoolraja had over 20 pending criminal cases, including charges of attempted murder, robbery, and theft.
