STILLWATER, Okla. – Former Oklahoma State University wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested on Saturday after campus police found him heavily intoxicated and passed out on the steps of the Edmon Low Library in Stillwater.
According to the Oklahoma State University Police Department, Blackmon was unable to answer officers’ questions due to his level of intoxication and was subsequently arrested for public intoxication.
This incident comes shortly after it was announced that Blackmon would be inducted into the Cowboy Football Ring of Honor during OSU’s home game against Kansas State on November 15, 2025. Blackmon, who was also part of the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class, was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. However, his career was marred by suspensions, including an indefinite suspension by the NFL in 2013 for multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.
As Oklahoma State looks forward to honoring Blackmon’s legacy, the former NFL star’s latest arrest highlights ongoing struggles with substance abuse and mental health, issues that are often interconnected. Those in Oklahoma dealing with similar challenges are encouraged to seek support through available mental health resources.
