Five Arrested for Murder of Satrughna Birua in Bhubaneswar

Youth killed over illicit relations, body dumped in Chandaka

Bhubaneswar police have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Satrughna Birua, whose body was found near Godibari village under Chandaka police station jurisdiction on Monday.

The arrested accused are:

Bahadula Bandra (26)

Rupa Pingua (26)

Pitambar Kankel (22)

Naba Tiria (25)

Gultu Hembram (19)

Police investigations revealed that Birua was allegedly involved in an illicit affair with one of the accused’s wives. Residents reportedly caught the couple on November 23. Birua fled, leaving behind his scooter, mobile phone, and belongings.

Later that night, the accused allegedly ambushed Birua, beating him, strangulating him, and hitting his face with a stone, leading to his death. The body was dumped, and his scooter was moved to mislead investigators.

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh confirmed the arrests, while ACP Sonali Singh Parmar said the investigation is ongoing.
