Two men, allegedly members of a criminal gang involved in an Rs1.8 crore theft spree, including ATM and mobile phone thefts, were arrested in southeast Delhi, police reported on Thursday.
The suspects, Farman and his associate Asif, were apprehended following a multi-jurisdictional operation spanning Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Farman, the ringleader of the gang, is a notorious criminal with a history dating back to 2004. Before forming his gang with Asif and others, Farman operated a scrap business in Kondli. He is reportedly linked to over 25 criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, burglary, and violations of arms laws across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana. In 2018, he was injured in a shootout with Uttar Pradesh Police.
Asif, a former cab driver, became part of the gang in 2014. He is believed to have been involved in five criminal cases, including murder and burglary, in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
