A former CEO of a northern Iowa telecommunications company was sentenced Friday to over three years in federal prison after admitting to stealing more than $600,000 from his employer.
Anthony Lang, 42, of Jesup, pleaded guilty in April to wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.
Between January 2017 and January 2023, Lang used company credit cards and bank accounts to make unauthorized purchases totaling at least $600,000. Among the purchases was an almost $7,700 hot tub, the criminal complaint revealed.
The telecommunications company involved was not named in court documents or the press release.
Lang was sentenced to 38 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $662,736 in restitution to his former employer. Upon release, he will serve a three-year term of supervised release.
