On Saturday, the police in Erode arrested a 28-year-old man for attempting to smuggle 2.9 kg of ganja. The suspect, identified as Sakthivel, hails from Avarangadu near Pallipalayam in Namakkal district.
While conducting routine vehicle checks near the old registrar office on Cauvery Road, officers stopped Sakthivel for questioning. His suspicious responses prompted a search of his bag, where the police uncovered the illegal substance.
Sakthivel, who had traveled to Erode from Chennai by train, was immediately taken into custody after the ganja was seized. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
