Engineering Student and 3 Others Arrested in Major Burglary Case

Police recover stolen gold, cash, and household items from suspects

In a major burglary investigation, four individuals, including a 21-year-old engineering student, were arrested in connection with the theft of gold jewelry, cash, and household items from a residence in the Ralaba Road area, under the jurisdiction of Golanthara Police Station.

The arrested suspects were identified as Bikash Bisoyi (23) of Bhismagiri village, Silu Nayak (21), an engineering student from Bhismagiri village, Kalia Behera (21) of Bichhapata village, and Saras Kumar Nayak (32) from Borosingi village.

The police successfully recovered stolen goods, including 56 grams of gold ornaments and Rs1,40,000 in cash, from the possession of the accused. The theft was reported on December 18, 2024, by the victim, Surya Narayana Achary (48), who claimed that his house was broken into, and gold and silver ornaments, along with cash, were stolen.

Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M confirmed that the stolen items were seized from the suspects in the presence of witnesses. Further investigation revealed that the accused were involved in several thefts across different areas in the district. The four individuals have been forwarded to court for legal proceedings.
