In a recent crackdown, the police arrested eight migrant workers, including four juveniles, for stealing at least 38 mobile phones during IPL matches at Chepauk. The suspects diverted the attention of fans to pickpocket mobile phones while the match was ongoing. The stolen phones were identified when one of the victims received an email showing the location where the phone had been accessed.

The team tracked the suspects and apprehended them at a lodge in Vellore. Among the arrested, Rajkumar Nohia, 22, from West Bengal, had been previously involved in two mobile theft cases. The accused, including Rajkumar Nohia, Akash Nohia, Visal Kumar Matoo, and Gopichand Kumar, were all arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

This case underscores the growing trend of crimes taking place during large public events and the effectiveness of technology in tracking stolen property.
