TOWN OF SOUTHEAST, NY (KFOX14) — A six-month-long investigation into the theft of a truck in Southeast led to the arrest of 39-year-old Sean Turcios, a resident of Beekman, on felony grand larceny charges.

Truck Stolen in September
On September 8, a resident on Route 312 in Southeast reported that his truck was stolen after being parked in his driveway earlier that day. When the complainant returned later, the vehicle was gone. Local law enforcement was immediately notified, and a deputy was dispatched to the scene. Investigators began collecting evidence, including reviewing surveillance camera footage.

The stolen truck was quickly entered into law enforcement databases, prompting further investigation. Within a day of the theft, officers from the Danbury Police Department in Connecticut stopped a vehicle matching the description of the stolen truck and apprehended Turcios. He was arrested in Connecticut for possession of the stolen vehicle.

Legal Consequences
Turcios was found guilty in Connecticut and sentenced to six months in jail. After serving his time, Connecticut authorities informed the sheriff’s department that he would soon be released. Turcios was then transferred back to New York, where he was arraigned on a felony grand larceny charge. The charge could result in a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison if convicted.

Prior Felony Convictions
Due to Turcios’ prior felony convictions, the magistrate denied bail and remanded him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility until his next hearing.

Ongoing Investigation
The Southeast Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between local and out-of-state authorities in solving crimes and bringing suspects to justice.

The case serves as a reminder of the value of surveillance footage and thorough investigations in solving thefts and recovering stolen property.
