ATHENS — Dontavious Qyedrekus Aikens, 23, of University Oaks Apartments, was arrested on February 10 after allegedly snatching a phone from a person at the Athens Transit bus terminal on Willow Street.

Authorities said Aikens reportedly took a $350 Motorola device and exclaimed, “Thank you, bitch,” before boarding a bus. The 24-year-old victim pursued him and was able to recover the phone during a struggle onboard.

A transit worker flagged down police when the bus stopped on East Broad Street, leading to Aikens’ arrest for robbery.

As of Tuesday morning, Aikens remained in custody without bail.
