In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jalukbari Police arrested Dipak Das (22) near the railway tracks close to Gate No. 1 in Maligaon on Sunday.
The arrest was carried out during a targeted raid based on specific intelligence inputs. Dipak Das, a resident of Kalapani near Goshala under Maligaon Police Outpost jurisdiction, was found in possession of multiple containers filled with narcotic substances, a mobile phone, and cash totaling Rs 8,000.
Police sources said Das had been involved in the illegal drug trade in the Jalukbari area for a considerable period. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
