PINE BLUFF, Ark. — An 18-year-old man, Dicoreon Ford, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Floyd Cornell Allen III, which occurred on Saturday, the Pine Bluff Police Department confirmed.
Ford was taken into custody Monday evening in Stuttgart, just hours after police identified him as a suspect in the case. He faces a charge of capital murder.
The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving the Pine Bluff Police Department detectives, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigators, Arkansas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Stuttgart Police Department.
In a statement, the Pine Bluff Police Department expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the agencies and the community members who provided critical information leading to Ford’s arrest.
Earlier Monday, officials had announced a reward for tips and warned that Ford should be considered armed and dangerous.
The victim, Floyd Cornell Allen III, was found unresponsive around 5:55 p.m. Saturday in a yard on South Maple Street. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later confirmed his death. Allen is the first juvenile homicide victim in Pine Bluff in over 18 months and marks the city’s sixth homicide of the year.
