SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — Two individuals were arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on July 31, 2025, in Shelby County.
Patrol deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a Jeep Cherokee for having an improper tag. During the stop, deputies questioned the driver, Dewayne Holifield, and deployed narcotics K9 Jerry to inspect the vehicle.
K9 Jerry alerted officers to the presence of drugs, giving deputies probable cause to conduct a search. Inside the vehicle, deputies found one pound of methamphetamine and a trafficking amount of fentanyl. Additionally, deputies discovered a concealed weapon under the driver’s seat.
Holifield was charged with drug trafficking (methamphetamine), trafficking fentanyl, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The passenger, Alexis Moore, was charged with drug trafficking (methamphetamine), trafficking fentanyl, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Holifield and Moore were taken into custody and booked into the Shelby County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
