Arunachal Pradesh Police have apprehended two individuals in separate fraud cases traced to West Bengal and Assam, confirmed a senior official on Sunday.
Among those arrested is Debashish Kar, a 55-year-old jeweller from Naharlagun, who had been evading authorities since August 2024. Kar allegedly deceived multiple customers by collecting gold ornaments under the pretense of repairing them, only to flee the state with the valuables.
Naharlagun’s Superintendent of Police, Mihin Gambo, stated that Kar managed to stay undetected for months by constantly changing his location and mobile numbers while moving across several states. His arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the case.
