City police have arrested two armed criminals involved in the theft of Rs 22 lakh in cash and jewellery from a residential house. Authorities recovered two loaded pistols, 10 cartridges, and the autorickshaw used during the crime.
DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad identified the accused as Rajesh Srivastava, alias Guddu (28), originally from Muftasil Ara, Bihar, now residing in Karni Path Colony, Harmada, and Ranjit Singh, alias Vijay Singh (28), a native of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, currently living in Khaurabeesal, Kardhani. Srivastava, a history-sheeter of Vishwakarma police station, has 11 cases against him, while Singh has seven.
According to police, the burglary occurred on August 13, when the thieves broke into the house and stole cash and jewellery worth Rs 22 lakh. Investigators traced the suspects after analyzing CCTV footage and identifying a suspicious autorickshaw.
Following leads, police conducted a raid at Khaurabeesal market and apprehended both suspects. During the search, pistols and cartridges were seized along with the autorickshaw. The accused confessed to the burglary during questioning.
Police also revealed that Srivastava had previously served five years in Jaipur jail for a 2013 murder. The duo reportedly used the autorickshaw to scout houses during the day before committing the crime.
