A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of robberies in Orange County, officials announced Wednesday. The suspect, identified as David Zamarripa, was taken into custody by the Garden Grove Police Department after investigators linked him to multiple robbery cases.

According to a press release, detectives began noticing patterns in at least five robberies that took place in early January. “Detectives observed several cases with similar circumstances and cross-referenced them to determine whether they were linked,” authorities stated. Following a review of surveillance footage and witness statements, investigators concluded that the cases were likely committed by the same person.

Further collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in Orange County revealed three additional robberies that matched the pattern, bringing the total number of incidents to eight. This prompted investigators to focus their efforts on surveilling Zamarripa.

Zamarripa, a Garden Grove resident, was arrested as he attempted to leave a local hotel. During the subsequent investigation, detectives uncovered evidence linking him to the robberies, including items potentially related to the crimes and a possible weapon used in the incidents.

Details about the specific similarities between the robberies were not provided, and authorities have not identified any of the victims. Zamarripa was booked into the Orange County Jail following his arrest.

Anyone with information related to the case or who may know of additional victims is encouraged to contact Detective G. Jordan at the Garden Grove Police Department at 714-741-5838, or the Detective Bureau at 714-741-5800.
