A New Orleans man has been arrested in connection with a string of high-end motorcycle thefts in Gonzales, Louisiana.
David Williams, 28, is accused of stealing multiple motorcycles from residences and has been charged with illegal possession of stolen property. He also faces three active warrants from the Gonzales Police Department for theft of a motor vehicle. Williams is currently awaiting extradition to Ascension Parish.
According to authorities, the thefts began on the night of April 16 at a Gonzales apartment complex. Over the course of several days, three separate thefts occurred, all involving expensive motorcycles.
Detectives identified Williams as a suspect during their investigation and traced a vehicle believed to have been used in the crimes to a New Orleans address. With help from Louisiana State Police Troop NOLA and the Fraud and Auto Theft Unit, Gonzales Police located the suspect vehicle and a trailer likely used to transport the stolen motorcycles.
A search warrant executed at a North Galvez Street residence led to the recovery of one of the stolen motorcycles. A second was later found at a different New Orleans address on Werner Drive.
“This case demonstrates the power of collaboration between local and state law enforcement,” said Gonzales Police Chief Sherman Jackson.
The investigation is still active, and additional arrests may be made as authorities continue to gather evidence.
