FAIR HAVEN, VT (WRGB) — David Alan Brown, a 47-year-old resident of Fair Haven, was arrested after fleeing from police and being found hiding in a garage, according to the Fair Haven Police Department. Brown was wanted on multiple warrants in Vermont and New York and was also listed as a fugitive from justice.
On May 24, 2025, at approximately 12:45 PM, officers located Brown on South Main Street. As they attempted to take him into custody, Brown fled on a bicycle, then abandoned it to run on foot into a wooded area and railroad tracks, before eventually being found hiding in a garage on Prospect Street.
During the arrest, police said Brown resisted, and while being placed into a patrol car, he kneed an officer in the groin, causing a minor injury to the officer’s finger.
Brown was wanted on several Vermont warrants, including:
Attempted aggravated assault on a police officer (from fleeing police on November 12, 2024)
Failure to appear in court for driving with a suspended license (July 17 and April 26, 2023)
He was also wanted as a fugitive from justice in New York, having missed a sentencing hearing on March 27, 2024, in Warren County Court for a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Brown now faces additional charges stemming from the escape attempt and assault on law enforcement.
He is currently being held pending extradition proceedings and further court appearances in both states.
