A Winder restaurant owner has been arrested on serious rape and kidnapping charges following an incident involving an 18-year-old employee.
According to the Winder Police Department, Daniel Barrios Catalan, 46, co-owner of Latin Flavors restaurant, allegedly provided alcohol to the victim after her shift on March 1. Authorities say he then took her to a private area of the restaurant before driving her to his home early the next morning.
The victim reportedly became heavily impaired to the point of losing consciousness. After regaining awareness, she sought medical attention at a local hospital, where a mandated reporter alerted the police.
Following an investigation, Barrios Catalan was arrested on March 7 and charged with one count of rape and one count of kidnapping. He was booked into the Barrow County Jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
