The Mangaluru police have arrested Chikka Hanuma (55), a member of the notorious Dandupalya gang, who had been absconding for 29 years. Hanuma was wanted in connection with a twin-murder case registered in 1997 at Urwa Police Station.
A city police team, led by Urwa Police Inspector H.M. Shyam Sundar, tracked and apprehended Hanuma in Madanapalle, Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh.
He was subsequently produced before the jurisdictional court, which remanded him to judicial custody, police officials confirmed.
This arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the decades-old case and adds to the long list of criminal activities linked to the Dandupalya gang.
