ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Three individuals were arrested early Saturday morning in West Asheville as police conducted crime prevention patrols in the area.
The Asheville Police Department reports that around 12:20 a.m. on April 19, officers encountered Damon Tyrique Smith Jr. (21), Samar Arkey Peake (20), and Daiquan Aijah Ray (20) near the 490 block of Haywood Road. Authorities say the three were found in possession of illegal drugs, including fentanyl and marijuana, as well as firearms.
Among the weapons recovered was a Glock 19X and a stolen Glock 19. Officers say the arrests were made without incident.

Damon Tyrique Smith Jr.:
Felony possession of Schedule II (fentanyl)
Simple possession of Schedule VI (marijuana)
Driving while license revoked
Stop sign violation (citation)
Samar Arkey Peake:
Carrying a concealed gun
Daiquan Aijah Ray:
Felony possession of a stolen firearm
Carrying a concealed gun
The suspects were booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility. Smith received a $5,000 secured bond ($500 to a bondsman), while Ray’s bond was set at $25,000 ($2,500 to a bondsman). Peake was released with a written promise to appear in court.
