American Dale James Arrested for Jewellery Robbery in Da Nang

ĐÀ NẴNG — Police in Da Nang have arrested Dale James, a 29-year-old American from California, for an armed robbery at a PNJ jewellery centre on Núi Thành Street.

On Tuesday evening, James—disguised in a Grab delivery uniform—allegedly attacked a security guard with a blunt weapon before smashing display cases and stealing a large quantity of jewellery. Despite nearby residents trying to block the exit, the suspect managed to flee.

Police identified and tracked James to a rented apartment on Phạm Tu Street. He had entered Vietnam in early June 2025 and removed the license plate from his rented motorbike before the robbery.

When officers raided his apartment the next morning, James attempted to escape but was quickly apprehended. Police recovered the stolen jewellery, which had been hidden at the scene.

The case remains under investigation.
