BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) — A long-running investigation into regional thefts has led police to arrest four suspects—three males and a female juvenile—who are now charged with the February murder of a plumber in Baton Rouge.
According to police, Dakhire Mattews, 18, Steven Hackett, 18, Christian Hardesty, 17, and a female juvenile were charged with:
First-degree murder
Attempted first-degree murder
Eight counts of aggravated criminal damage to property
Simple criminal damage to property
The fatal shooting occurred on the night of Saturday, February 15, in the 4600 block of Fairfield Avenue, where Trevor Harrison, 27, was sitting in his truck and was struck by gunfire in what authorities describe as crossfire from an unrelated conflict. He died on the scene.
In addition, Chance Hebrard, 23, Deonta White, 24, and Khristian McManus, 17, were arrested for unrelated crimes during the investigation.
The suspects are believed to be connected to a local gang known as Shiesty Gang Kartel (SGK), linked to various crimes including auto thefts, burglaries, and violent offenses.
The arrests were made with assistance from Baton Rouge Police, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, U.S. Marshals, and the ATF.
