A court typist identified as Mohammed Tajuddin was arrested on Thursday for allegedly cheating the public by falsely promising government house sites in exchange for money.
According to officials, Tajuddin—who worked at a court in Nirmal—collected around Rs1.5 lakh each from multiple individuals, claiming he could arrange house plots in Khanapur town through his “official connections.”
The scam came to light when a victim named Manjula lodged a complaint, alleging she had been given forged land documents. Upon investigation, police registered a case and launched a manhunt for Tajuddin.
He was eventually traced to Bhainsa, arrested, and presented before a local court in Nirmal.
Authorities further revealed that Tajuddin is a repeat offender, previously involved in at least seven similar cheating cases. A special investigation team is now looking into additional victims and the extent of the scam.
