PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Authorities in Prince George’s County, Maryland, have announced the arrest of a couple connected to a deadly shooting that took place in Suitland in 2024.

28-year-old Marquis Anbaz and 30-year-old Francis Holmes Jr. were charged with the murder of 30-year-old Brian Speaks, who was shot and killed in the evening hours of November 15, 2024.

The shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Parkway Terrace Drive, where police found Speaks inside an apartment building with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives later identified Holmes as the shooter and charged him with first- and second-degree murder, along with other related charges. Holmes allegedly shot Speaks over a dispute with someone else, and investigators revealed that Anbaz, his partner, assisted in hiding the firearm afterward.

Holmes, who did not know Speaks prior to the shooting, is currently in custody without bond. Anbaz was charged with accessory after the fact.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted online.
