An Elmwood man was arrested following allegations of home repair fraud, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Christopher Sloan, 49, operates a business called Danco Heating and Cooling and is accused of defrauding multiple clients.

At least three victims reported issues to law enforcement, including an elderly resident who paid $3,400 as a down payment for a new furnace that was never installed. After experiencing a month of delays, the victim filed a complaint with the sheriff’s office.

Sloan was arrested and booked into the Peoria County Jail. He faces several charges, including home repair fraud, theft, and deceptive practices.

The sheriff’s office warned residents to exercise caution when hiring contractors and to report any suspected fraudulent activity.
