Ahead of New Year celebrations, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Control Wing conducted two major operations in Bengaluru, arresting two drug traffickers and seizing contraband worth Rs2.5 crore.
In the first operation under Soladevanahalli Police Station, 45-year-old Christopher, a Nigerian national, was apprehended. Authorities recovered 1.07 kg of MDMA crystals, 60 ecstasy pills, Rs2 lakh in cash, a mobile phone, and a laptop. Christopher, who arrived in India last year on a business visa, allegedly procured MDMA at low rates from foreign nationals in Delhi and Mumbai to supply to customers during the festive season. He had previously faced charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and resumed trafficking after being released from judicial custody.
In a separate operation at Bandepalya Police Station, 26-year-old Naveen Raj, an inter-state drug peddler and delivery executive from Tamil Nadu, was arrested. Police seized 100 LSD strips, 5 grams of cocaine, and a mobile phone used for criminal activity. Naveen reportedly sourced drugs at lower prices and sold them to known buyers at higher rates.
Police emphasized that these arrests were part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking in Bengaluru ahead of the New Year celebrations.
