The Chikkamagaluru police arrested a 28-year-old man, Pavan, on Thursday in connection with the alleged murder of his mother, Bhavani (52), at Arenuru near Aldur in Chikkamagaluru taluk.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday night when Pavan, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, killed his mother. After the act, he allegedly set her body on fire.
Police said Pavan, a daily wage worker, had a history of alcohol addiction and often quarreled and assaulted his parents. Investigations into the case are ongoing, and authorities are assessing the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
