Chandigarh Police arrested three habitual offenders involved in a robbery near Cactus Park, Ram Darbar, as part of a special drive against anti-social elements. The arrests were made by a team from Sector 31 police station under the supervision of Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO.

The incident occurred on the night of July 29, when fruit seller Lalu Chauhan and his brother Mukul were assaulted and robbed while returning home from Kisan Mandi, Sector 29. Around 11 pm, three assailants—Shubham, Sawan, and Habru—intercepted the brothers near Cactus Park. Sawan threatened Lalu with a knife, Habru restrained him, and Shubham snatched Lalu’s purse containing cash, an Aadhaar card, an ATM/debit card, and other documents. The trio then fled.

Following an FIR registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act, police launched an investigation and apprehended Habru (28), Shubham (23), and Sawan, all residents of Phase 1, Ram Darbar. The stolen Aadhaar card and cash were recovered from Habru, while Shubham was found with the ATM card and additional cash. Police seized a knife from Sawan.

All three accused are daily-wage labourers with prior criminal records. Sawan has five previous cases, Shubham three, and Habru one. The trio was produced before the court today.
