In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Chandigarh Police arrested two men from different parts of the city in separate operations, recovering a large quantity of narcotics.
The first arrest occurred near the IRB Complex in Sarangpur at around 3:40 pm on Friday. The police operation team, conducting routine patrols, noticed a suspicious man attempting to flee. After a brief chase, he was apprehended and identified as Samsad Ali (27), a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. A search revealed 53.90 grams of heroin in his possession.
In a separate case, Sector-26 police arrested Amar Singh (35), from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, near the Timber Market. During the search, 708 grams of charas were seized from him.
Both men have been taken into custody, and the recovered narcotics have been seized. Investigations are underway to uncover the smuggling network behind these seizures. Both accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
