Miami, FL – A 55-year-old woman from the Dominican Republic was arrested at Miami International Airport (MIA) after allegedly making a false bomb threat while waiting in line.
Authorities identified the suspect as Carmen Rosa Solislerqux, a swimming instructor from Santo Domingo. According to deputies, Solislerqux stated that she had a bomb in her bag while in the security line at MIA’s Terminal D on Sunday.
Airport security immediately intervened, removing her from the line and detaining her while separating her three bags for inspection. Upon questioning, Solislerqux claimed, “I was only joking.”
After a thorough search, no explosives were found in her luggage. However, since she admitted to making the false statement, a detective arrested her on-site.
According to county records, Solislerqux was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGKCC) shortly after midnight on Monday. She faces a second-degree felony charge for making a false report regarding planting a bomb, explosive, or weapon of mass destruction.
Authorities continue to warn travelers that making false bomb threats—regardless of intent—can result in serious legal consequences.
