MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A man accused of sexually assaulting a gas station employee in Rockville was arrested the next day after allegedly robbing a bank in Wheaton.
Montgomery County Police say the incident began Thursday evening around 7 p.m., when a man entered a gas station in Rockville and physically and sexually assaulted the sole employee on duty before fleeing the scene. Detectives later identified the suspect’s vehicle as a Mazda SUV, and noted his distinctive clothing captured on surveillance footage.
The next morning, around 9:23 a.m. Friday, police responded to a bank robbery at Capital One Bank, located at 11241 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton. There, officers apprehended 34-year-old Carlos St. James Hover of Washington, D.C.
Hover matched the description of the suspect in the previous night’s assault, was driving the same Mazda SUV, and was still wearing part of the same distinctive outfit, according to police.
He now faces multiple charges including:
First-degree rape
First-degree assault
Armed robbery
Resisting arrest
Other related offenses
Hover is currently being held without bond as the investigation continues.
