Camren Banks Arrested in Gainesville Car Theft

19-year-old charged after fleeing on a home roof

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Camren Banks, 19, after he allegedly stole a car in Southwest Gainesville and attempted to escape by climbing onto a home’s roof.

Authorities said deputies surrounded the vehicle, and Banks climbed onto the roof in an effort to flee, but he ultimately surrendered to law enforcement.

Banks is charged with burglary and grand theft auto. Deputies are still searching for a second suspect involved in the incident.
