CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cameron Leonard was found guilty on all charges Thursday, including first-degree murder, for the death of 21-year-old Myron Snyder, who was tragically shot and killed while working as a DoorDash driver in 2023.

Leonard’s defense team had argued that he acted in self-defense, but the jury found him guilty of the fatal shooting.

The incident occurred in October 2023 when Snyder was delivering food to the Pointe Apartments in northeast Cedar Rapids. After delivering an order to the apartment door of Maurice Brown, Leonard’s brother, Snyder and Brown got into an altercation. The situation escalated, and guns were drawn. Snyder attempted to drive away, but the confrontation led to his death from multiple fatal gunshot wounds.

In a statement following the verdict, Myron Snyder’s mother, Alicia Rogers, expressed that justice had been served for her son. “It took a second to grasp what was being said, but I knew he was with us along the way as he has been this whole journey,” she shared, reflecting on the emotional moment in court.

Linn County Attorney Nick Maybanks also spoke out after the trial, offering condolences to Snyder’s family: “Our hearts are with the family of Myron Snyder, Jr., who was taken away from them in a senseless and avoidable act of violence by the defendant, Cameron Leonard. He was a son, a brother, a nephew, and a beloved friend to many. He worked for the Boys & Girls Club. He was an impressive young man with a bright future. His death was a loss for all of us. He will be missed.”

The conviction marks a significant moment for Snyder’s family as they seek closure after a tragic and senseless loss.
