Chandrappa Totad, a 34-year-old resident of Byadagi town, was arrested for defrauding a man of Rs 5.8 lakh through a fraudulent share market investment scheme. The accused initially contacted the victim, Manoj, via WhatsApp, promising returns exceeding 2% per day on share market investments.
Convinced by these promises, Manoj invested a significant amount of money into the scheme. To gain his trust, Totad provided counterfeit documents from Dhanush Stocks Investments (D Stock), further persuading the victim that the investment was legitimate.
After realizing he had been deceived, Manoj filed a formal complaint at the CEN police station. Investigations into the case revealed that Totad employed similar tactics to deceive other individuals in the area.
DySP Pragya Anand of the CEN police station has urged the public, especially those who may have fallen victim to Totad’s fraudulent schemes, to come forward and share any relevant information. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the scam and identify other possible victims.
