WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Brian Timothy Grant, 45, was arrested following a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle on Thursday morning.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office identified Grant as the driver of a black Honda HR-V SUV reported stolen from a residence on Pipers Landing Road near DeFuniak Springs.

Deputies spotted the stolen vehicle around 7 a.m. on Highway 90 near the Mossy Head area. When officers attempted to intercept the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 90 and State Road 285, Grant refused to stop, leading deputies to pursue him.

During the chase, Grant reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The pursuit continued onto Kings Lake Boulevard, where Grant lost control while trying to turn onto Paradise Island Drive and crashed into a tree.

Grant was taken into custody without injuries. Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson commented on the danger posed by Grant’s reckless driving but expressed relief that no one was harmed during the pursuit.

Grant faces several charges including grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding law enforcement with disregard for public safety, driving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense), and dangerous speeding. He remains held at Walton County Jail.
